Thanks for replying, Lord Avon! I really appreciate it. One other question I have is: What are the disadvantages of playing this mod with ultra unit sizes? The ultra unit sizes are one of my favourite things about the mod, so my friend and I have been playing all of our battles with this size.

Whats stand behind no existing charge for cav? Even lancers. There is actually no difference if you charge enemy or walk in to.

I noticed Portuguese "Atiradores" don't have a firing animation, they just kinda sit there not doing much.

There's a serious glitch for the Danish Footguards. Their moral is only 11? Even minor states' militia has a base moral of like 15 or so. Something that should be kept in mind for the next patch.

I checked both of the MP & SP mod db tables for the Inf_Elite_Danish_Life_Guards_of_Foot and they set at 40 and show up in game with that.

From a canister PoV the most important metric is the number of operational guns, so while 2 batteries might not be that excessive it becomes quite bad if both those batteries are sporting 4 operational guns.


I think I have brought it up previously but I think it warrants being re-emphasized, is infantry being able to form up while in melee with cavalry, and start shooting casually. This is as bad as instant squares to be honest. Attached you will find a replay where you can see this happening to my carabiniers. The replay is quite long though. The replay will also showcase the power of canister. While we are ultimately victorious the artillery in an unsupported fashion manages to get far to many kills and units routing compared to other unit types.

infantry shouldnt be able to fire into melee but I can understand why for a balance point of view but maybe find a way to tone it down a little?

Hekko most of your SS show approx 2 batts per player max so 8 batteries in a 4v4 etc(about right imo), your reference to canister is from our 2 1/2 hour epic I guess?? but your extra Inf/Cav won the day so?? Art is a tough element to use and to counter(as it should be) thou most if not all battles are won by the 'Infantry Regiments' on the ground with well timed cav support(as it should be)

For instance, in our epic battle you alone had 3 units of artillery. And ultimately you saw how much damage the artillery did, either through canister alone, or through cav and inf being thrown away to kill it. Infantry prevailed on our flank, but that's because you ventured quite far from your artillery. And your one 12lber routed one unit of Swiss very quickly. It forced one unit of 9e to retreat from the firing line, and it forced me to commit several units of hussars to get rid of it (temporarily). So a unit that is 750 required a sacrifice of 960, plus routing another unit of 440 and forcing me to move back a unit that is in the ballpark of 700. And that is to temporarily disable your unit.

Even if you only bring the artillery as a honey trap for my cavalry it would still make sense economically speaking.

This is not to mention the end of the battle, where we had essentially won and were cleaning up, yet still the artillery managed to inflict more casualties on us than we did on you with our entire armies in the same time span, which just goes to illustrate, that even when lacklustrely supported, the artillery will dominate.

Furthermore, as I pointed out, the size and number of operational guns matters as well.

Something should be done about Spain, Sweden and Russia.
They all have very cheap mounted infantry with an insane charge bonus that can allow them to thrash other cavalries twice as expensive if not more with relative ease. Since no one uses mounted infantry to charge on foot, maybe the charge bonus should be reduced drastically.

This is especially problematic with the charge bonus of every other cav having been blown to hell.
You can do anything with bayonets except sit on them.

Heko I think we fielded 7-8 batteries which is a fair proportion for any OOB in a 4v4? yes canister was effective(as it should be) but not effective enough lol as your excess of Inf and Cav won the day especially considering the last 20 min of the battle where you guys attempted to hit us in dribs and drabs rather than all together from all directions as our art can not pivot to target multiple units at the same time...... all 3 military arms should and must be effective in the given roles and V5 is fairly close imo thou little tweaks may be needed esp for Hvy cav etc

Think Lordz created the monster finally. No more yaks on green fields. Arty is deadly on morals, hasty and effective plans are indispensable.
Fast games, Many head-on cav charges to arty and Many Inf VS Inf Charges everywhere as morals are fragile (for both attacker and defender sides course but attacker has the initiative for the point where hammer will go)
Inf/Cav combination effective more than ever more than any other versions we had so far i think. But mod punish spam inf and spam cav and spam arty as all instruments are important. But as always mod proves itself with the central idea, best team and team plan wins. If team game is played every player dont have to have a balanced army, some have powerful inf some cav some arty. That makes the mod and ver5 better than others i think.

Very good game Hekko. I think faction selection & lean played a good role here;
1 major, 3 minors vs 2 major,2 minors.
Interesting to watch both flanks opposing armies made it 1.5 vs 1 successfully.

Tho French left was (1minor + 0.5 major vs 1 minor !)
AND
French right was (1 major vs 0.5 minor + 1 major) and you stood very good against them as 1 major and never give up. That said the final words i think.
