Espoz y Mina misspelled

Postby Darcaem » Tue Oct 03, 2017 7:53 pm

Hi, and thanks for the amazing work once again :)

Just a small note, the surname of Francisco Espoz y Mina, Spanish guerrilla leader, is misspelled. In the game it is spelled Espos y Mina, with s instead of z.

Do you have a source for that?
In the material I used it was with a z.
Historically I think sometimes z was transcribed as s.
E.g. the English spelling of Saragossa instead of Zaragoza.

In his own memoirs in Spanish he spells it as Espoz.

Sorry, I do not have any source, besides Wikipedia :)

But I'm Spanish, from Zaragoza, and I have always seen it written and spoken in history books and in museums as Espoz y Mina, with a 'z'. It is true that in some historital texts the 'z' was transcribed as 's', but it is a mistake. In "ancient" castilian Spanish texts it is common to see those mistakes, also 'b' and 'v' mistakenly used. Zaragoza is spelled Saragossa in actual English, but I do believe that is not the case with Espoz y Mina.

My apologies Darcaem I misread your post and thought you were trying to say it was with an 's' not a 'z' , my mistake. :(
In my notes I had it as a 'z' but it got mistyped.
