This game will be something else, Histwar 1 was made by JMM alone, now the team includes 4 people. Expect much better.

VC

Well 3vs3 or 4vs4 is where this type of MP game really shine. As in real life you depend from other general's decision and behavior but you still have the means to impact on the battle outcome. The you have the funny and interesting socializing aspect of the game, food for clan and clan war.

We all know that without crash/drop issues and with better formation NTW3 would be the best game out there. This is where HW should aim for, allow micromanagement in a realistic way (couriers or retarded orders for example) but at the same time offering a strong AI to delegate part of the battlefield not immediately handled by player.

This way you will get both possibilities covered: 1vs1 and 4vs4.

This is what we are aiming for Desaix.
There will be no problems in MP with histwar. Even if you drop because your Internet disconnected or whatever other reason, you will be able to rejoin the battle and take back the units under your command.

Looking better and better all the time, both graphics and better game play as the old "bugs" are zapped.

Lancier if only what you mention would be true (campaign editor, brigade/division orders, map editor able to render a true nap battlefield, I'd add an intuitive interface) there would be no discussion, but at the moment I see little of that.

The strong point as you wrote is that HW is supported while NTW3 abandoned.

I bought the game, played for 8 hours and I am sorry to say that it's no better than HW : Les Grognards in its current state and I am having issues seeing how this could be salvaged. Considering the ridiculously high prices proposed for the game, I got very little in return.
The game tutorials aren't very helpful to start with so I had to figure out just about everything on my own and the battle view seems to bug often, making it useless. The camera is tedious to move around even once I got the hang of it and frankly, it's difficult to tell what is going on anyhow. Units seem to have issues engaging each other aside from cavalry battles, the AI can't even deploy itself properly, etc.
This wouldn't be so bad if the vast majority of features mentioned by Lancier weren't actually a lot less developped than their names might suggest and devoid of fun. The grand strategic AI for example is really just giving the ability to the computer to reassign units to other corps rather than something that can mop the floor with your army. The game feels like an interactive movie with one actor per regiment and a whole lot of CGI and many pathing issues. I am aware it's supposed to be of those early access games but thus far I am not impressed. I tried pitting the AI against itself with different orders of battle, maps and doctrines and it takes forever for one side to win with entire wings of each armies just staring at each other while 7-8 units battle it out, routing back and forth to rally back to the battle until the tiny part of the army that is fighting breaks completely and then it all goes downhill from there.

I am fully aware of how inflammatory what I just said is but I feel it has to be said as I think I am one of the only person save for Avon who actually bought the game on this forum.

I'd hardly call it a game in its current state. It's barely playable. I guess if you like looking at squares moving back and forth eratically it might be your thing but the strategic aspect of the game doesn't really exist and the poor interface does not help at all to swallow the pill as it were.

I am aware that the game has features that are supposed to be in later but I don't share your blind faith in early access games becoming better the more money you throw at them. The vast majority ends up dying halfway through and anyone who was dumb enough to invest got shafted in the process. Need I remind you that HW:LG wasn't a great game? I bought it to test the game for my fellow grognards, not because I expected to get my mind blown.

I'll continue to test it in every major updates and may change my opinion over time but I doubt it.

That's called blind faith. It's something I don't dabble in. I won't let the amount of money I spend on a game force me to enjoy it. If I dont get my bang for the buck, I won't force the issue.

I think Seimour01 needs more than 8 hours to be a HW "expert"..........it would take me too long to correct all the factual errors in his ramblings.

An opinion can say -
"I don't like HW because of x y z reasons".

A factual error is to say -
I'd hardly call it a game in its current state. It's barely playable.

Maybe he is unaware this game [LG] has been played for almost 4 years, solo, mp and pbem and HW|N is a very good improvement, even if he played it with his eyes closed and could not see the difference.

Amazing.
