Anyone buying this on its release date, I'm very much interested in it but can't decide whether to get it straight away. If anyone has made the decision to get it on its release I would much appreciate any feedback to help me make up my mind.

I might buy it but only if its pathfinding and controls are much improved from the original scourge of war.

Pathfinding was not a major problem for regular SOWGB players, certainly by patch 1.6

One problem people had was trying to manoeuver lines around crowded areas, when they should have been using columns. Unfortunately, the Matrix guy in the video's is doing just that and making it look harder than it should be.

I do agree that there was room for improvement, though. Mitra (a regular SOW Nap mod player) has been helping rewrite the code and it appears that he has done some good work, here. The AI is also made moddable, which will help on fine tuning.

I will be buying the game on release and will report back.

Good video. Unfortenly it reminds me of when i had 16 ,20 years ago, when i played North & South ,pentium game.
But also, there is something there i liked, the flags of the regiments. It would be great to see that with NTW 3.

Thanks Grog, always good to see other games and mods. I liked the music, is it generic to the game or are the regiments making their own music?

Thanks guys

Yes, sprites are always going to disappoint when you are used to the lovely 3D animations of NTW3. I agree though, the flags are a nice animation.

Mainly wanted to demonstrate the way SOWWL can be played 'from the saddle' for those that are that way inclined or wanted to see what it was like.

The marching music is linked to the units. There's a nice one which comes on when you order a French brigade to attack in columns of division (the soundbit taken from the film Waterloo). Scots regiments play the bagpipes, also.

BTW, Great mod fellas
