Upcoming Grand Strategy Campaign.

Postby Lord Fullin » Fri Dec 26, 2014 7:21 pm

In January we will be launching a Campaign that combines grand startegy with NTW3 battles.

There will be 2 team with no player limits. 2 commanders and a Campaign master (me).
The campaign plays day by day , each day commander send orders and a situational map is returned.
Battles are played in NTW3 by any member of the team.

Here the scenario overview for the campaign.
The map
the campaign rules
the battle rules

the trigggered objectives are secret.

Here Some of the Previews.

Spoiler: show
It’s the year 1816
After the decisive victory of Napoleon at Mont Saint Jean the Congress of Brussels held a feeble new peace over Europe.
France is strong again and Napoleon is safe in his Imperial throne.
So Europe is at peace.
But this will not last long.
The hate between Prussia and Britain after the disastrous Belgian campaign of 1815 is growing stronger.
As the Prussians still mourn the death of Blucher at Ligny the British blame Geinesau and the Prussian for not joining them to avoid defeat at Mont Saint Jean.
The Austrians are holding the French Empress in Vienna and Napoleon wants Maria Louise back in Paris. And like Greeks and Trojans he is willing to go to war for her.
Women and War.
The German States are restless.
Napoleon doesn’t forget the Bavarian turncoats and wants Wrede´s head on a silver plate.
The rest of the States are waiting to choose sides, they will not make the same mistake again and they will wait further, before making any decision.
Belgium and Holland is under French control and Holland isn’t happy about it, but there is not a lot they can do about it, except wait and pray for the British or Austrians to make progress.

Russia is out, Alexander is tired of dealing with Europeans affaires, and there is plenty of glory waiting in the East.

December is boiling and Napoleon is ready again.

He plans, if everything fall into place, a retaliation campaign that will start in early March 1817.
Bavarians and Austrians will finally pay.

King Maximilian still looks for a diplomatic solution out of this, he doesn´t want to fight a powerful Napoleon and Bavaria mayt as well join the Rheinebund if that ever comes to exist again.

Saxony is the key, and Dresden is the gate for Austria.

Napoleon needs to be in possession of Dresden by February for his Grande Armee to start marching throu safe territory before moving into Bohemia.
So if the French get Saxony into the fold again the southern German states, Baden and Württemberg will join, opening a second route to Austria from the south.

Its late December now and things are getting in motion.

Napoleon has ready 3 armies to move into Germany. One in Düsseldorf (Berg) and 2 in the Netherlands (one in Arnhem and one in Assen).
He has one more army in Hamburg, the only city in Germany he kept after the treaty of Brussels.

Frederick William King of Prussia, although at peace with Austria, has given the French safe passage through their western territories only to spite the Archduke for keeping an alliance with Albion.

The small principality of Brunswick has a different opinion on the matter, they see the Rheinebund as a hugh threat to the german balance, and they will not hesitate to raise in arms against any unbalance in the region, seems that the old death Duke spirit , still reigns in the region. And they hate the French Emperor.

Napoleon knows , that thanks to Prussia neutrality, he can operate everywhere . And as far as he keeps Hamburg under control Wellesley will not land.

The French Emperor is in desperate need to reform the Rheinebund; he knows that all this German states separated are sure pray for Austria and eventually Prussia. France can not allow this to happen.
He can not occupy them by force… yet, because Prussia will not permit this, and France still needs Prussia out of the game.

An army, in the Rheinebund states capitals, may help them to decide in his favor. Or at least will stop the Germans from aiding the Austrians. Especially the southern ones closer to Austria, like Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

Hannover is neutral, after the defeat at Mont Saint Jean sided with the British they have became too much exposed in central Europe and in an untenable position in Germany.

The mentally ill Georg III of Hannover can hardly make a sound decision but his impetuous son is willing to take revenge.
Britain knows this, if only they can be push a little further…..

The Kingdom of Westphalia has been dissolved after the fall of Kassel in 1813, but Jerome wants his kingdom back. The now so called electorate is nothing but a shadow of their former glory, exhausted from wars and devastated from pillages the electorate can hardly field an army to defend themselves from the oncoming French.
They know that their faith, as with the other members of the old Rhine Confederation, lies on the hands of the Major players, and they are not.

Archduke Charles, back in control of the Austrian armies is faced with a troublesome dilemma.

There are too many potential enemies and very few potential friends.

So they have to relay again on the British, an army that had proven useless to fight on their own.

He knows as well that they can’t trust Bavaria.
King Maximilian will beg the French for forgiveness as soon as the Austrian suffer their first defeat.
So they have to convince them to join them before it’s too late.

King Maximilian has had his eyes on Saxe-Coburg for a long while now.
And that wouldn’t be a problem, if the French were not anxious to reform the old Rheinebund, and that tiny small principality is key in the process as a central positioned state of the future coalition.

The British, again, are the sword that will unravel this Gordian knot.

Charles considers Wellesley useless, but he has men and money and Nosey is thirsty for revenge as well, but as far as the French are in Hamburg they will not risk it.
The Archduke knows than once the British are in Europe their forces can tip the complex balance of powers of this preliminary campaign.

A preliminary campaign that can unravel the destiny of a new Europe.

Good luck, looks very promising, not overcomplex rules but enough to cover many possibilities.

This looks extremely interesting, with the battles actually being fought using NTW3. Fullin, great concept and excellent presentation. I must put you in the same league with Lancier in your organizational skills of projects such as these. Great job.

Thanks Z. But when we compare Fullins work with our simple mp organisations, ours was an amateur happening with so many mistakes. Fullins work is a masterpiece and a lot of effort! Congratulations again.

Fullins beta campaign seemed to work well, the New version will improve on the beta so the Grand Campaign has the potential be a very fine NTW3 campaign mod for MP battles......With enough active players for each side conducting map moves and MP battles Fullins campaign sim will certainly add another dimension to the Lordz mod........
