Ye Lordz Map Poll

Postby Lord Badger » Mon Mar 29, 2010 8:39 pm

I think we have made enough progres on mapmaking atm to start a makeover of Gunners maps from ETW.

As time is rather a precious resource atm, i'd like to call a poll for your top 5 maps, so we can include those in our release.

So vote here, we're closing the poll in seven days.

Great idea Badger,

Having 5 excellent maps is going to make a huge difference to NTW3 early days .

Just for fun here are my votes in no particular order.

1. Marengo evening
2. Ligny
3. Quatre bra
4. Flat Steppe
5. Borodino Fletches (sadly bugged, but would have been a great map)

ThreeHills is a good map, but it never worked, so it won't get any votes.

We have a few out in front, at the moment.

As I did some work on these I would say the later ones were a lot better than the earlier ones, the vote looks good so far.

Are there plans to convert some more of these maps later ?.

Maybe another poll for the next 5 - or however many.

Considering how important the maps are in TW games I'm surprised there is not more interest in the maps situation.

Any chance of a reply to these two questions - even if only a simple yes or no.

Are the five maps voted on here included in the testing process ??

Are there plans to convert some more of these maps later ?.

If five maps have been "converted" there are about another 20 that could also be done, without them ntw3 might not have much re-playability as people must be sick to death of the CA maps by now, or will be very quickly after ntw3 is released.........we need maps.

Actually there are 36 maps in the current beta, most of them playable and balanced.
I think as a first release it can satisfy the great part of players.
Some will come later, as Legio we're developing Marengo historical which is coming great, a true joy for the true grognard. And next we'll work to Auerstadt or Aspern.

Of course making map for generic MP is even easier but I rather like to work on historical map than just playable one.

yes indeedy the maps are good and theres a variety of choice at the mo with diffferent outcomes and strategys for most.

Of course maps like arcole are still pretty much a debacle of a map but most knock socks of the nilla ones.
They seem huge to me to,although of course in a 4v4 it could be said theres not acres to outflank but at least with skill you have the oppurtunity.

I like how if your on the right flank you have no idea of whats going on with the far left.

Yes, definitely that's one of the best feeling of 4vs4. Usually we play with vocal on, but I must admit that I prefer just written chat. Messages without unit flags is really a great experience, if only host could set these options for all.
