Please note : This map is “based on” information in the book “The Battle of Marengo” by David Hollins and is not to be considered an exact replica of the battlefield, from page 70 of the book.

This is the section of the battlefield where the Austrians crossed the river to take Marengo in the afternoon, before the French counter attacked later in the day. The Fontanone stream runs from one side of the battlefield to the other in front of Marengo, there is one major bridge near the village with many fords along the whole length of the stream…..It can be crossed in many places as can the small ditch/stream that is further behind it. Woods line both banks of the stream along most of it’s course and several large orchards cover part of the map. The ground is flat with some undulations, the lowest ground is around the two water obstacles. There are two other small villages either side of Marengo but generally it is an open battlefield.

DZ : The attackers (Austria) are team two and will start with their player 1 deployed at the map edge ready to advance on the French right flank. The other two players will be massed in front of the river in a forward position. The French (Team 1, defender) will have their players 1 and 2 deployed in and to the left of Marengo defending the river, their third player will be well to the rear, to represent the French Guard and reserve. Note, the deployment zones are closer than normal on this map and the action will start without the need to move into position.

This map has now been updated to make the river easier to cross, no other changes have been made except to add in many more river crossings.

The new updated map pack will be relesed in a day or two times.
