I would hope all golfers uphold fair play, but, of course they don't. I have found one or two of them myself over the years !. Pity about the woods issue - at least now I know, had played for ages thinking I would be "safe" behind woods. Cover behind hills - done a couple of tests on custo...

Same here, I don't regard the people as "silly" at all, do whatever it takes to win (well almost anything). It's the situation that can be a bit silly. I've just played 3 games with more arty than normal and had 3 fairly easy wins. Unheard of for me !. I'm just a bit old fashioned and also...

I understand your comments, but, his whole army was deployed right behind the guns. It's very hard to see how you approach through all that arty fire over a long distance and then tackle the other 14 units of infantry and cav stacked behind the guns. I never host a game with "rules", I don...

Just tried out a game with more arty than normal. Russians defending had 4x12prd and 2xhowitzers. Got a heroic victory, which is not the norm with me. May make that the minimum in future and see how it goes. Maybe even 4 and 4 next time as never needed many troops. Good fun trying out all these diff...

Artillery too strong

I think the artillery is to strong. EXAMPLE - I'm brits with 2x9prd (and 2 howt further back) and the French have 6 arty units. My 9 pdr'ers, my general and loads of troops are killed off in the first 5 minutes or so. If I move back out of range (as it's NOT possible to take cover behind woods and h...

That's a fair comment, but tell me what should I have done in the following situation - I'm brits with 2x9prd (and 2 howt further back) and the French have 6 arty units. My 9 pdr'ers, my general and loads of troops are killed off in the first 5 minutes or so. If I move back out of range (as it's NOT...

Simple solution - half the arty effectiveness and also half the cost. Result - Just have a couple / three units and you will do some damage but only half as much as now. Want to do more harm with your Arty, ok, need more guns so buy more (cheap) units. Arty is too strong when all units fire at one t...

Oh hell, I just thought what MIGHT be happening, have I taken arty crew off "guard" in error. Would that make them run off the map ?.

I'll keep a close n eye on this in future sessions.

Still don't understand second part of above.

1/Poss Russian Arty Crew BUG, 2/unseen troops hit by cannon

I've just played another game where the Russian Arty Crew routed after the first couple of cannon hits on their position, blue flag, turned and ran away, also - unable to rally with the GENERAL. This has happened about half a dozen times now and I have not hit the W key in error. Is it something to ...

No wonder I was getting slaughtered so many times, suspected something "odd" was going on. Now won 3 from last 5, much better than 6 straight looses. Will keep experimenting, learn something new most games. Lots of players are very helpfull (some don't talk at all-which is fair enough) and...

"Guard" usage ?

I am wondering if - at the deployment stage when infrantry are taken off skirmish mode - are players putting ALL units to "guard" mode to keep them in the fight longer. I suspect so, but it's only a guess. Is this a sensisble thing to do ?, it would appear to be but comments from more expe...

Good to hear there is going to be some "control" over the maps and that people can make them to ( what's appears to me ) a high standard.

I've had a quick look at those two maps (Hagelbugh 1813 and Lingy 1815), they look very good to me. Silly question - In MP do the all players taking part need to have the map or just the host ?. If all do, how do you know if others have that map or not ?. Guess just host and see if anyone joins in. ...

Pleased to hear you agree on the maps importance and that there are more in the pipeline. Just had a look at the hill top one, very well done BUT not sure it's a good idea to have troops set up so near and it must be too high and steep - just my feeling. Any comments on the second part of my post re...

Maps

I don't know how many will agree but I think the best way to improve NTW2 - after the Waterloo release - would be to add as many new maps as possible. I understand Waterloo will have some, very good news, but the whole game play revolves around the ground battles are fought out on and to my mind the...
