Movie Set During the Peninsular War

Bail?n would be fantastic, a relatively unknown battle to most. A rag-tag Spanish army defeats the French, probably would make a good cheesy Hollywood film. :D Something pretty close to that was made by Stanley Kramer in 1957 and was called The Pride and the Passion and starred Cary Grant, Sophia L...

Jena Movie and Leipzig Reality

Leipzig is indeed a tempting battle for a reconstruction. But only because of its size. Not sure if it offers a lot of tactical surprises or dramatic moments. There was quite a nice documentary about the battle of Leipzig on Arte, but I didn't learn much much about the strategies that were used. Th...

No Quarrel Here

Recently, I discovered three single play scenarios(NTW2):The Battle of Teugn-Hausen 1809, The Battle of Salamanca 1812,The Battle of Auerstadt 1806. I propose next NTW2 project. It is historical battles for the single player. This is not the short-term campaign. It is all individual. I think that t...

You Never Give Up, Do You, Jakob?

To each their own, I say. I guess you don't believe it possible that some players actually prefer to play single player. I thought I previously made my position on that clear enough. The whole thing has nothing to do with manliness or lack of same. How many times must it be said - THIS IS A GAME. It...

A Realistic Chance For More Good Looking Units

All it would take is to change the French blue to Italian dark green and you have Italian Guards(Grenadiers)and line infantry. I wonder if that would also work for the cavalry.

My Experience With the Swedes Has Been Diffenent

I think I already said this, but in at least one of my custom battles I saw one or two top of the line Swedish foot units turn tail and flee the battlefield in the face of the winning French when things weren't going their way or the way of the Swedish army while each unit still had over 200 men in ...

Content of Next Patch?

It's probably way early in the game but have the Lordz given any thought to the content of the next patch? More content(I hope)? Or just a bunch of minor tweaks and fixes?

I sort of wondered if somebody forgot about the whole thing but thanks, Meg, you have just reassured me to the contrary. While I'm at this, what is going to be new with this next mapset update?

Guys, This Isn't Complicated

Just go into the export_descr_unit.txt file and change the value to whatever you want. You don't need to wait for a patch. Just make sure everyone makes the same change or you won't be able to do battle together.

I'm With Rsslcs on the Single Player Campaign Idea

Not everyone here will have the hardware, etc., to make ETW work. We could, therefore, really use a break with a single player campaign. I know it's been said over and over that the AI handles these units in a way that makes a campaign addition to this mod VERY unlikely(how does the AI do this? I wo...

Playing Sweden Must Be a Real Struggle

Like I said before the Swedes even came out, they will at least make good fodder for La Grande Armee(and, apparently, others). The Swedish morale looks to be quite brittle. I'm glad they aren't my army.

About That Mapset Update...

What ever became of it? It was supposedly due out a week after the Swede/Turk upgrade. I've been keeping watch for an announcement but have seen nothing yet. What's up?

I Have No Problem With the Turks

My French infantry shoots them to pieces and French cavalry likewise chops them to pieces with not too much trouble. At that point the Turkish morale crumbles and the big issue becomes chasing down flying fugitives. That's still one of my biggest pet peeves with the RTW battle system.

Number of Total Factions Still Undetermined

I still would like to know how many more factions can be safely added to this mod. The original game still has, I believe, more than this mod so I would think there is still room for at least a couple more factions. While I'm at this, I'll vote again for North Italy and Poland. It never hurts to try.

Welcome To the Club, Hick09

Don't expect to see anything from the Lordz on the strategic level. Over and over they have said that nothing like that will be done by them for reasons already posted elsewhere at these forums. I wish it were different but there is no use in arguing or protesting since the official decree to this e...

How Good La Grande Armee Looks

I was looking before the start of battle at French units like the grenadiers a cheval, line lancers and carabiniers and I thought to myself, geez, these units look good. This is truly game art at its finest. Nice, nice, nice!!

You can just go into the appropriate file and change it yourself. Just make sure everyone is on the same page with that(I play single player so I don't care).

Hi(Again?), Moopere

I am thinking primarily of more factions but now I wonder how many more can be added. I hope the game can tolerate at least a couple more. I still want to see North Italy and Poland added and there are cartainly other players here with their own preferences. I have an alternate idea, however; for fa...

Hi, Badger

I tried to play the Ligny historical battle twice. I went in to the scenario with the unit settings on huge(you know, more men, more killing, more fun). The first time I was moving French infantry to attack Prussian positions around a town near the Prussian left flank. Prussian generals Zastrow and ...

Three New Historical Battles With Version 1.0

The latest update does in fact include three new historical battles; namely, Ligny, Quatre Bras and Wavre. I played the first two(with Ligny it took two tries as the scenario crashed on the first attempt)and I don't know what happened to the so-called artificial intelligence as it was nowhere to be ...

The End of the Line For N2TW?

Now that 1.0 is finally out I'm seeing talk here that this is the last hurrah for N2TW as far as content addition goes. Is this true? So much still remains undone here. What a shame it will surely be to leave matters in this state of incompletion. I think I hear the Emperor turning over in his grave...
