2. Waterloo
3. Sharpe movies
3. Hornblower
4. Pride and the Passion
5. Austerlitz
6. War and Peace (American Version)
7. The Duelists

Re: Eureka! Timer on Square button!

Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property.[1] Often slaves can be bought and sold. Slaves can be held from the time of their capture, purchase or birth, and deprived of the right to leave, to refuse to work, or to demand compensation. Definition of slavery / British navy and arm...

Re: Eureka! Timer on Square button!

The irony about Britain and slavery is that they had a slave army and navy. They are the villains of history. They freed slaves, but kept an army and a navy of them

Master and Commander, I think, is loosely based on a French ship being chased by a British ship. The USS Constitution was chased around the East Coast by the British but it never went so far afield.

Re: The War of 1812; The United States Army 1812-1815

Yes the battle of New Orleans was after peace had been declared. Really the position was unassailable and the attack should not have been attempted. At any rate, it was not the last battle of the war; the British army from New Orleans captured the American Fort Bowyer. Brock helped get native allies...

Re: Militia squares.

By the late napoleonic wars, there was a lot of militia in use. They could definitely form square.

Having players actually use militia does not seem like a bad thing.

Re: Armor in Napoleonic Era

Myth busters is awesome!
Guns recoil does not affect the shot, it happens afterwards. Panicky men tended to aim high, the same was said about shooting at a charging lion. Also men would aim high to try and avoid shooting other people

Re: Minor Factions Engineers

Da motta, there is no doubt about Spanish sappers. I'm not sure how you thought otherwise. Here again is the osprey link as well. As far as sources go, osprey is probably the most reputable. Many of them can be found online easily. http://books.google.ca/books?id=aImVDOuCG6AC&pg=PA22&lpg=PA2...

Re: Minor Factions Engineers

Jakob you could be right. Do you have a source? I could find no mention of engineers / sappers for Sweden.

Da motta, osprey confirms what uxbridge said about Spanish sappers.

Certainly any army coud have a detachment lead by an engineer to act as sappers.

Re: Rate the Minors

Good point fullin, 1 number is hard to interpret. I was thinking one soldier compared to another. In game terms people may be measuring effectiveness as an army. So the ottomans may have way larger units, which makes their percent higher. Really my list is similar to Fullins except Italy. Maybe I am...

Also, I have assumed years here, so if Portugal is before Portugal was part of the british army, the numbers would be much less.

Re: Rate the Minors

I have not played for some time, but the British worked hard to make the netherlands look poorly. There was animosity between them. The British for example painted the dutch cavalry as useless. The dutch cavalry remained in action throughout the day, suffering similar casualties to most British cava...

Bavaria: 85% Denmark: 75% Duchy of Warsaw: 95% almost on par with French; better cavalry Hesse / Baden: 90% should be the best German minor IMO Naples: 60%; worst army of nap wars? Maybe. Nicest uniforms? Definitely. Ah Murat... Netherlands: 80% Northern Italy: 65 to 70% Ottoman: 75% Portugal: 85% t...
