Hi all,

To solve the compatibility issue with The Lordz map pack with any other mod, the following lines need to be added to the localisation.loc file.

As it is not possible to have several localisation files, as is the case with db files, it isn't possible for The Lordz to make the map pack compatible with a mod, without altering the mod pack itself.

So any modding team wishing to make their mod compatible with the map pack, should include these lines in their localisation file. If no changes are made to this file by a mod, this alteration is not necessary.

Sinve the CA patch 29/04, all the beautifully made Lordz maps have been corrupted to some extent.

They are now similar to your originals but contours and villages etc are different!
There are floating builings in some places and some features have totally disappeared.
Most noticable in Quibero Bay map.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yes... CA has the power to corrupt everything. :(

Hello folks,
I have been in the Map room, I can view all topics but i am unable to post any replies.

Out of desperation i post here :?

A few issues i and others have found with the Borodino fletches map from the latest fantastic Lrdz map pack.

1. When scrolling over the map the ground ripples, with features rising and falling as you scroll forward.
2. When selecting groups of units and directing them to move to another part of the map by right clicking and holding your mouse, you cannot see the yellow grid indicator that appears on the ground showing you where the selected units will deploy. (hope you can follow that)
3. Not very important, but i mention as it may be connected to the above issues.
When viewing enemy units from a distance they seem to be partly almost sunk below ground. :?

Again apologies for posting here,
Cheers DJ.

Read the rules, my lad. And the reason they didn't make a campaign for NTW2 was because Rome: Total War did not support Napoleonic warfare. It would've just been Rome with Napoleonic units.

If you have the older map pack you must remove it, and place the new one in. That's the only issue that exists. If you are having trouble, then re-read the instructions and try again.

Hey all,

Try redownloading the mappack and loc file it things don't work. I've removed the other links in the top post, as these were outdated.

You will need both files, to make other mod compatibility easier, we had to seperate both files.

Also, this will allow us to release smaller mappacks, as we no longer need to pack all in one big file all the time.

B

Badger : Can you confirm the "correct" way to get the Lordz map pack working.....I have been using them without problems with ONLY the map pack in data, someone else who has NOT been able to get the game to start with the map pack has posted this today :

Quote:
i can atleast start the game and the maps shows up in th map list.

I started working when i added LMCmapmod_loc in data

So, should we have BOTH files in data ?. If yes, could you please make that clear in the top post, many thanks.g24

If we could clear this question up once and for all it may help avoid the "it dont work with the Lordz maps" kind of comments.

I'm even more confused than ever now, I downloaded the map pack from the link in the TOP post and this one is a smaller file than the one I already have ?????????????????????.

Author:  Lord Badger [ Mon Jul 06, 2009 6:23 am ]
Post subject:  Re: NTW3 announced and Map Pack and Tools released for ETW!!!

Both files are needed to play the maps.

The older version, which had only one pack file was released before ETW's 1.3 patch & so a few of this patches edits to the loc file weren't included.

We've decided it's definately best to have the loc file seperate from the map pack itself for the following reasons:

- future releases can be seperated from older ones, so one doesn't have to dl all the older maps in 1 file.
- other mod compatibility is easier to achieve, as the loc file for the mod can be amended with the mappack's loc entries. In this case however, the mappacks loc pack needs to be moved out of the data folder, as it might clash with the mod's loc.

So basically, yes both files are needed, and to get it to play with other mods, you need to manually move the mapmod_loc.pack out of the data folder. It can't be done through the mod manager, as the mapmod_loc.pack has to be a movie pack. It caused a ctd on my pc when i make it a mod pack.
Also make sure the mod is map pack compatible, ie the loc lines need to be included in the mods loc file. This of course needs to be verified by the mod creator.

cheers

Sorry about this Badger, but your going to get more questions here, so I may as well ask them first.

Quote:

So do you mean BOTH files are needed for "vanilla" but only the map file if you are using a mod ?.

Quote:

Are they both needed or not ?. You say they are both needed, but then you say in the same sentence to take the loc file OUT of data......hell, this is confusing.

What do you need for vanilla ?.....The map file AND the loc file ?
What do you need for mods ?.....The map file ONLY ?.

That will make it clear.

Post subject:  Re: NTW3 announced and Map Pack and Tools released for ETW!!!

Vanilla: put both files in the data folder

Mod:
Is the mod mappack compatible (ask the modding team whether they included the loc entries)?
---Yes: put only the mapmod.pack in data, move the mapmod_loc.pack out.
---No:
------does the mod make any changes to the loc (again ask the modding team)?
----------Yes: you're screwed
----------No: put both files in data
