This map is a “representation” of a part of the Borodino Battlefield, it is based on sketch maps in a book called “Napoleons Campaigns in Miniature" by Bruce Quarrie and also various different maps found on the internet. It is NOT exact replica of the battlefield as it was in 1812.
Two hills sit either side of the village of Utitsa, with a road running from South to North. A ridge is behind the first hill to one side of Utitsa with another hill in the rear. Near the ridge is an long strip of flat ground with a farm and a large area of small fields. Other than these features the landscape is mostly undulating, open and featureless. This area covered the Russian left flank of “The Fleches” and was defended by Jagers, Militia and Cossack troops. There is no water on this map.

DZs : Team 1 (defender), player 1 is to the right of Utitsa on the high ground, player 3 is left of it on the hill and player 2 is in reserve position between and to the rear of player 1 and 3. Team 2 (attacker) are all deployed at the map edge, spread across the width of the map, ready to select their sector to attack.
