Please note : This map is “based on” information in the book “The Battle of Marengo” by David Hollins and is not to be considered an exact replica of the battlefield, from page 86 of the book.
This is the area in which the French counter-attacked at about 5pm in the evening after the Austrians had pushed forward from Marengo earlier in the day. The whole map is mainly flat, but with gentle slopes in many places. There are many roads and tracks, with five farms located down one side of the battle area. The terrain is mainly large fields split up between the roads and orchards. A very open battlefield to fight over giving the Artillery an excellent field of fire.

DZ : The attackers (team 1, France) start with three players in a wide deployment, well forward, as do the other defending side as well. There is not a lot of distance between the forces and fighting should be quick to start after the deployment is complete. One player from each side will start behind the other three and have a wide choice of where to deploy in a very wide DZ - acting as a reserve to the forward three players from each team. The deployment of the reserve could have an important outcome on the battle, if they are in the right place at the right time.
